“It was a fantastic effort from our players after what they went through on Wednesday night. To ask them to come back and play on the Saturday morning was maybe pushing it a bit far but their commitment, their attitude and their desire to get a result was fantastic. I can’t speak highly enough of them after that performance and result today.”—Kenny Dalglish (via liver-bird)
kENNY , Wenger , fergie , Redknapp and Boas sitting in a pub .Wenger goes and buys the first round of drinks , Boas second , Redknapp 3rd , Fergie 4th and Kenny buys the next but fergie complains “Where’s mine ?!” kenny replies “Sorry Pal, this is the 5th round and your not in it “… YNWA!
QUOTES FROM KENNY'S POST-MATCH TODAY. I'd hate to have been a player in that dressing room...
“If they needed a lesson to be taught to them then today was it. If they think they can just turn up and get a result, not be as competitive and not match the opposition for effort and commitment then they’ve got a lesson today.”
“As good as they (Bolton) were, we were equally as bad. If anybody’s got aspirations of staying at the football club for any length of time, they’ll not be here much longer if that’s the way they’re going to be perform. We expect much better than that.
“If they think they can turn it on or off, they won’t be turning it on and off at this club.
“The foundations of the football club have always been built upon respect for other people and the philosophy that the next game is the most important one - not the one that is two or three down the line.
“This club has never been arrogant, it’s never been disrespectful. Who do they think they are to come to Bolton and think they only have to turn up to get three points?
“There’s nobody been at this football club that’s not had respect for other people. If that is what the problem was, that they thought this game wasn’t as important a game as the next one, then fine but they’ll not be here.”
Hi sorry I didn't watch the game today. Can you explain what he meant by disrespectful? Poor form or just lack of effort? I hope he was referring to Adam because I can't remember the last time he put on a good game
You didn’t miss anything. Disrespectful, to me, meant the way they played was just simply horrendous. At first, they played as if they were asleep and then they completely dropped off. Their passes didn’t really connect very well, they missed easy touches, they didn’t push very hard. For about 10 minutes towards the end of the first half they did all right. That’s when Bellamy scored. At half time, it looked like they’d make a show out of it. However, they came back and five minutes into the second half, they scored and then slopped off again. They were content to let Bolton have their way with them and let in another goal off a corner. It was just horrible play. Like they didn’t even care that they were losing, that they were playing Bolton, that they were even Liverpool players. There was no commitment for the most part, no effort, it was just truly HORRIBLE.
Bellamy did a decent enough job when he did get the ball, apart form the second half when he didn’t do hardly much at all. Stevie tried, but one man is not a team, and the rest of them…they didn’t try. Downing & Kuyt didn’t make much difference when they were subbed on. It was just a horrible, horrible show today.
For a few minutes there, we were doing pretty good. I don’t know what’s up with us though! We’re asleep almost cause we are certainly poor. Especially at the beginning. Stevie and Craig have been the two best players, and Pepe is good as well. It’s not his fault the goals went in, our defense was everywhere and no where at the same time.
Ugh. Kenny’s anger better turn these guys into passionate players, cause right now they aren’t. They are acting like they play for a Championship team, certainly not Liverpool.
